One of the biggest news we had before regarding the upcoming Borderlands movie was Kevin Hart‘s casting for the role of Roland. Others didn’t receive it well considering the difference in both size and personalities of the character and the actor. This was balanced out by the casting of Cate Blanchett for the role of Lillith the siren.
Now there have been more castings made with Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina. I don’t know much about Greenblatt but was told that she played the part of young Gamora in the MCU. Of course, this isn’t much to go on. All I can say is the castings have been all over the place so I’m curious as to how this movie is going to turn out.
Probably the most well-received of the casting, behind Cate Blanchett, is Jack Black as Claptrap. He definitely could pull off the energy that Claptrap has, and with some voice modulation, they could get the squeaky high-pitched noise that is his voice. Jack Black is no stranger to doing voice acting as he has done 3 movies as the star of the Kung Fu Panda franchise, with Po‘s excitable and enthusiastic nature.
With all these castings there hasn’t been any news of what the Borderlands movie will be like. I’m predicting it’ll be more like Jumanji since that movie followed a similar format of 4 video game characters trying to reach the end of the game, only this time they’re not video game sprites/data, but actual people in a far off universe.
So, what do you think of this most recent update to the Eli Roth helmed video game adaptation?
