Last September 2-3, 2016 marked the 2 day event of KLab Cyscorpions‘ hackathon. The event runs with the theme of “Change is Hacking” where developers are tasked to create apps that the local IT industry can use to directly affect change and social awareness.
The event, held at the KLab Cyscorpions headquarters at BGC Central became a temporary home for the developers participating in the event. And the Hackathon, was done in partnership with DevCon Philippines, Globe Labs and Google Developer Group Philippines (GDG).
Participants were judged by Bryan Batibat, President of DevCon Philippines, Anne Michelle Santos, Product Manager at Globe Labs and Anne Pabustan, KLab Cyscorpions’ resident iOS developer. Mentors for the teams were also present and these were, Ralph Regalado, Community Manager of GDG Philippines, Tristan Babasa,Technical Manager of Novate Technologies, Jomar Tigcal Android developer, trainer, and consultant and Benj Tupas, Founder and CEO of FunBuddies.
The top three winners of the Hackathon went home with cash prizes of 10,000 PHP, 15,000 PHP and 25,000 PHP. While each participants on the other hand went home with gifts, giveaways and tokens of appreciation from the organizers.

Description: a mobile app that would give Filipinos a platform to voice out concerns that they feel the government needs to address immediately
2nd place
Team: WY
App: Rafael
Description: a travel companion app which would prioritize the user’s protection from everyday danger during travel
1st place
Team: Marius Angels
App: Ambag
Description: a social platform for giving and receiving donations. It’s designed for NGO’s educational institutions and communities. It’s chat-like conversation UI makes it unique from other platforms.
